About Mambito

I’m Mambito, a passionate musician devoted to preserving and pushing the boundaries of conjunto music. My journey began in childhood, dancing at conjunto events and soaking in the energy, rhythm, and tradition that would shape my musical path.

One of my biggest influences is my padrino — the legendary Nick Villarreal, known to many as El Nicky Snick. His mentorship and legacy continue to inspire my dedication to the genre. Over the years, I’ve sharpened my craft, especially on the accordion, always striving to blend tradition with fresh energy.

For the past 18 years, I’ve led Mambito y Los Champs, a group known for high-energy performances and a unique style that stands out in today’s conjunto scene. Whether we’re in the studio or on stage, our mission is the same: to connect with la raza and keep the spirit of conjunto alive.

Shout-out to my father — the one who first introduced me to the world of conjunto and lit the spark that drives me to this day.
